good weekend

After the threat of severe weather subsided last Friday night, Chris and I had a nice relaxing weekend. We were both sent home from our jobs early on Friday due to the threat of severe weather. Tornadoes were likely, and I was not a happy camper for a few minutes! Luckily, Chris was released to come home to comfort me through the storms. Some of the teachers had to stay with the kids who hadn't yet been picked up by their parents. I am so thankful for that caring man who decided to leave early, given the option and get home from Ohio Co. safely.

We hung out at home on Friday night and watched the Netflix movie that we had been holding on to for a couple of weeks, Tron: Legacy. I wish I could tell you if it was good or not. I don't know. Penelope and I conked out on the couch within the first 20 minutes, as usual. Chris said he enjoyed it though!

Saturday we cooked breakfast and relaxed for a bit at the kitchen table. Chris sipped coffee and I had hot chocolate. I am giving up caffeine for a bit in observance of Lent and also just because I think I'm too dependent on it.

We decided to tackle giving Penelope a bath and cleaning the apartment first. Then we were ready do something fun. After all the cleaning work was done, I made lunch. Then we took Penelope to the Bark Park, which is not too far from where we live now. She didn't know what to do with all her freedom. It's basically just a fenced in area. There's one area for small dogs and another for large dogs. We kept her on the small side seeing how every other dog even on the small side towered over her. Poor puppy. She was terrified of all the other dogs. They would come up to her ready to play, and she'd take off running in the other direction. She kept running up to Chris and I wanting us to pick her up! I think she enjoyed her freedom though. Running free is something she never really gets to do outdoors.

After the Bark Park, Chris and I went home to crate up our pup. We were home for a bit, and then decided to grab some dinner at Chick-fil-A. Then I worked on my Children's Church lesson and we worked together on our Sunday School lesson from our marriage book.

Sunday we went to church. Chris lead a couple of worship songs and I taught Children's Church. After church was over, were invited to hang out at the Golden's for the day. I love them. They are such a sweet family, and we miss having them as neighbors. They wanted to show off their new home. They were so very hospitable to us, as always. They treat us like we're their own kids!

We left the Golden's just in time to run back home for a few minutes to get ready for Connection Groups at the Merkling's. We were able to share in a rich time of fellowship and benefit from their hospitality as well.

It was a nice weekend! I can't wait for the next one!
